The Canary-Colored Caravan of Death

In the comic, The Canary-Colored Caravan of Death, a young girl talks about her experience with her family. I didn’t particularly like this comic, mainly because I didn’t see a point. I don’t understand what the point of the comic really was. What was it trying to do? To show people that even through struggles writing can help? Or was it really just, basically a narrative about herself? This is the main reason why I didn’t like it. Also I feel it was a bit too gloomy for my taste. There was no excitement that I could really point out. I do like how she used more knowledgeable vocabulary though. It caught my attention. It made me ponder upon the words and made me more curious upon their meanings. When I looked them up it helped me to understand the comic a little better but still I was lost. I guess I think there should be something there, something to build off and something that brings me in, a string. I really liked the ending captions where she talks about finding creativity in being separated from her family. I like how independent she became and the fact that she didn’t have to rely on anyone to help her. It seemed like her family mostly neglected her and wouldn’t do anything to really help but to provide the necessities; food, water, and shelter. It must have been tough for a girl her age to grow up on your own, she even had to learn to feed herself before long. It is easy to tell that her family was not wealthy at all and that there were plenty of arguments throughout the whole family.
